Earl D. Mix Park

In 1921 the Deer Park Union reported that the Commercial Club of Deer Park purchased a nine acre piece of property from the Standard Lumber Company for approximately $100 per acre, naming it "Tourist Park." It wasn't until July 1965 that the City Council renamed the park Earl D. Mix Park, in honor of the longest running Mayor of Deer Park.
The City expanded the park by approximately three acres, and added a 30 car parking lot. There are three public restrooms, two sets of playground equipment, several picnic tables for public use and the Betty Burdette Gazebo which is named after longtime resident and community volunteer.
Mix Park is the gathering place after the Settlers Parade where you can find food vendors, art and craft booths, Reiter games, High School reunions and much more.
The Clayton Deer Park Historical Society has a great newsletter containing interesting history on "Tourist Park." Please visit their website HERE or go directly to the article HERE.
The Betty Burdette Gazebo is available to rent for many occasions, please contact City Hall for more information.
